The Problem

In Liberia, many young people grow up without access to safe, structured recreational activities.

Urban congestion, poverty, and post-conflict trauma have left youth with limited outlets for play, creativity, or stress relief. As a result, they often turn to unproductive or harmful alternatives—like gangs, substance abuse, or idle lifestyles. With little to no investment in emotional wellness, teamwork, or personal growth, many teens are disengaged and directionless.

Recreation isn’t a luxury—it’s a vital part of healing, growth, and identity-building.

Our Response

HopeGivers Ministries sees recreation as a bridge to transformation. Through our Recreation Project, we offer healthy, Christ-centered environments where young people can play, express themselves, build friendships, and discover purpose through:

Community sports days featuring football, volleyball, track events, and team competitions.
Creative arts and talent showcases including dance, drama, spoken word, and music.
Game-based learning sessions that foster leadership, communication, and emotional intelligence.
Mentorship through movement, where trained leaders guide discussions and discipleship through recreational platforms.
Safe zones for girls to engage without fear of harassment, judgment, or exclusion.

Every activity is designed not just to entertain, but to engage youth physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

The Change We Seek

We envision a generation of young people who are whole—physically active, emotionally healthy, spiritually strong, and socially connected.

Through this project, we aim to:

Strengthen mental health and emotional resilience among Liberia’s youth.
Promote unity and inclusion by bridging tribal, religious, and gender divides through shared play.
Reduce risky behavior by providing meaningful alternatives and peer support.
Encourage spiritual growth by linking recreation to gospel-centered mentorship.
Develop well-rounded leaders, prepared to serve their communities with energy, creativity, and compassion.
